St. Landry Parish man killed crossing highway

A 41-year-old man died after he was struck by a car while he attempted to cross U.S. 167 near Interstate 49, a report from Louisiana State Police Troop I report stated.
Michael Andrus of Palmetto was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative from the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office.
The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Police said as Andrus attempted to cross the northbound lanes of U.S.167, he was sruck by a 1998 Mercury Marquis driving north by Betty Robert, 61 of Opelousas.
Impairment on Andrus’ part is unknown at this time, and a toxicology sample was taken from him and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, police said.
Robert was properly restrained and was not injured.  Robert was not impaired and  was not cited in the crash, police said.
