Wreck kills Rayne man

A Rayne man died as the result of a Saturday morning motor vehicle crash at the orner of Standard Mill Road and East Park Drive located Crowley, according to a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon.
The dead man was identified as Brock James Simon, 24, of the 4100 block of Standard Mill Road, Rayne.
Simon was a passenger in a vehicle driving by Lance Wagner, 23, of Sarver Road, Crowley.
It is believed that Wager was traveling west on Standard Mill Road at a high rate of speed and attempted to turn south on East Park Drive causing the vehicle to hit a ditch and landed on a truck parked in the driveway in the 800 block of East Park Drive, the news release stated.
Simon was ejected and taken to Acadia General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Melancon said that charges against the driver are expected pending the results of toxicology tests.
