A Ville Platte man attempted to stuff a cockroach into a woman’s mouth during a domestic attack sparked by the 21-year-old woman’s refusal to have sex with him, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.

Dexter Mayes, 28, 4100 block of Opelousas Road, Ville Platte; Domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse aggravated assault and aggravated assault.

Police believe an alcohol-fueled argument resulted in the stabbing of a 25-year-old woman by her boyfriend around 11 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex on Crestview Loop.
