Darrell Lawyer, age 52, 731 Heidi B. Rd., Opelousas, LA, simple battery involving domestic violence.
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported 20 recent bookings into the parish jail.

Tabitha Lynn Leblanc, age 28, 175 Boss Rd., Cankton, La, resisting an officer, simple battery of the infirm.
Anthony Darnell Anderson, age 21, 177 Midway Exit Dr., Opelousas, LA, possession of schedule I drugs.
A second debit card cloning suspect working at the same fast-food outlet as the first has been charged with theft.
Police said Thursday that Damian Collins allegedly made purchases totaling more than $400 with a card he cloned.

Thibodeaux’s father and mother and grandfather and uncles rode, bucked and tied before him.
27th Judicial Dist. Judge Donald Hebert Wednesday denied convicted murderer Warren Gautreaux’s motion for a new trial and set sentencing for March 26.
Gautreaux was convicted in May 2013 of the January 2006 first-degree murders of Youric and Mary Courville of Eunice.
Eliot Bertrand received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Bertrand has been working with the St. Landry Sheriff Department for the past 10 years. His supervisor is Ricky Leger, Sr.
The VFW Post 8971 held an Awards Night Monday, recognizing and honoring some of Eunice’s public servants.
Presentation of plaques and appreciation certificates were handed to recipients by Post Commander Gene Olivier.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
