Effective Aug. 15, 2004, the concealed handgun laws were amended concerning reciprocity with other states. The statute provides as follows:

Eunice firefighters responded to a truck fire on August Leonard Lane off Attebury Road in Acadia Parish at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Fire Chief Mike Arnold. The fire involved a vacuum truck serving oilfield tanks, he said. The driver was injured and taken by helicopter to a hospital in Lafayette, he said. Arnold did not know the identify of the driver or the extent of his injuries. The fire appeared to have started around a compressor on the truck, he said. Truck fire scene in Acadia Parish

Eunice firefighters responded to a truck fire on August Leonard Lane off Attebury Road in Acadia Parish at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Fire Chief Mike Arnold.

Truancy rates for Eunice’s seven public schools have dropped since Eunice Police and school officials began a program that intervenes soon after a pattern of absences develops. Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish seeks info on stolen motorcycle

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the felony theft of a 2014 Aprilia Motorcycle from the 1100 block of Meche Road, in Rayne.
The bike was reported stolen on Oct. 29 and is described as being white and black in color with a red cougar design on both sides of the tank.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
