As political conventions grab headlines and campaign rhetoric moves into full fury, I am reminded of Gov. Earl Long’s remarks during one of his campaigns in the 1950s. He said there was no way his opponents could keep the promises they were making, and everyone should know they couldn’t.

Mayor thinks GPS in city vehicle likely to save money

By Monday Eunice city vehicles in the street, wastewater and gas departments will be equipped with GPS devices, Mayor Scott Fontenot said.
Fontenot was busy Thursday helping Todd Smith, a mechanic at the City Barn, install the GPS devices in vehicles.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
