Brown says he is staying as superintendent

If the crowd of people at Thursday’s St. Landry Parish School Board meeting expected to see action on hiring a new superintendent, they will have another chance at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
That’s when the board scheduled a special meeting to discuss the details about the hiring process.

Tower touts Trump

The Mamou Road Water District tower was drawing attention as people spotted a Trump sign on it beginning Wednesday.
Brent Ardoin, water system manager, said he put the sign up on the tower at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday.
The sign is on the north side of the tower.

Military, families can visit University Art Museum for free through Labor Day

The Paul and Lulu University Art Museum is rolling out the welcome mat for members of the military, veterans, and their families.
They can visit the museum for free through Labor Day, thanks to the art museum’s participation in the national Blue Star Museum program.

Parish library tax is a no-go on Council

A request to place a tax for a parish library system on the November ballot failed to gain any support at a St. Landry Parish Council meeting Wednesday.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
