School Board keeps options open on superintendent

St. Landy Parish Superintendent Edward Brown’s contract ends Dec. 31, but the School Board isn’t assuring he will stay on the job.
In a 6-5 vote Thursday, the School Board voted against assuring Brown remains on the job until his contract ends.

The annual Fourth of July fireworks display is scheduled at 9 p.m. Monday at the Eunice Recreation Complex on Sittig Road.
Traffic routing will be changed this year.

Baltakis: Active Keep Eunice Beautiful intends to be more so

The Keep Eunice Beautiful committee intends to become more active this year in awareness and education of litter ordinances, code enforcement and looking at vacant and dilapidated properties, Donna Baltakis, director, said in a report at the Eunice Board of Aldermen June 14 meeting.

Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police.
June 29
Wesley MacRussell Edwards, 42, 200 block of North Mallet, Eunice. Warrants for driving under suspension and improper lane usage.
Devin Scott Francois, 26, 3800 block of Johnson Hwy., Eunice. Possession of marijuana.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
