Lady Cats rally for first win

It took a tiebreaker game to get it done, but the Eunice High Lady Bobcats dominated the fifth set to claim their first-ever volleyball victory Wednesday against the Northwest Lady Raiders at the Bobcat gym.
The winner-take-all match was needed after the two teams finished with two victories apiece.
It didn’t begin well for the Lady Cats as the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
But the resilient Lady Cats battled back to tie the game at 5-5 before taking the lead for good at 6-5 before running away to a 15-7 win.
Alyssa Gianfala served out the match with a five-service run to seal the historic victory.
Eunice head coach Therese Gianfala was pleased with the way her team competed down the stretch. “We’ve learned how to compete this season and it’s good to get that victory. They’ve put in a lot of effort to get where we are right now.”
The Lady Raiders claimed the first game by a 25-16 margin. Northwest’s Ravyn Miller led her team in that game with a 6-0 service run, which included the game-deciding point.
The Lady Bobcats bounced back in game two to claim a 25-23 thriller.
Madison Guillory led the Lady Cats with a 7-0 service run. The game-deciding point came on a hit by Ali Rae LeJeune.
The Lady Cats continued their fine play in the third game with a 25-21 win.
Alexia Jason used a 5-0 service run to help the Lady Cats increase their led from 15-14 to 19-14. Mia LeJeune added the game-winning kill..
The Lady Raiders trailed early in the fourth game (13-6) before charging back to claim the 25-19 win.
Brionne Clark had an eight-service run to lead the Lady Raiders.
Eunice (1-15, 1-6) continues district play with a trip to Crowley on Tuesday before hosting Rayne on Wednesday.
