On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Mobile Oilfield Learning Unit (MOLU) arrived at Richard Elementary for fifth-through eighth-grade students to take part in learning activities about energy and the technologies and sciences involved with the La. oil and natural gas industry.
Jeanne Elliott, science teacher, learned about MOLU through a Earth Science Conference held in Lafayette this past summer. She then took the opportunity to sign Richard Elementary up for a science learning experience.
While participating in MOLU, students read, experimented and answered specific questions about:
* the exploration of oil and natural gas
* the retrieval of oil and natural gas
* the process of collecting the petroleum to the making of everyday products
* the building of equipment for the oil and gas industry
* and more.
“MOLU proved to be a great learning experience for all involved,” said Elliott and Principal April Briscoe.
