31st World Championship Etouffee Cook-off Sunday
The 31st World Championship Etouffee Cook-off will kick off Saturday night with live entertainment at Ruby’s Courtyard on Second Street, and the cook-off will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday at the Northwest Pavilion on Samuel Drive.
One Trick Pony will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Ruby’s Courtyard.
In addition to the cook-off, Sunday’s event will feature a karate demonstration, other foods besides crawfish and refreshments and beer. There will be handmade arts and crafts like bows, crochet items, children’s clothes, woodwork items, bird houses for sale. Admission to the cook-off is free, and no ice chests are allowed.
Live entertainment will start at 10 a.m. Bands are as follows: 10 to 11:30 a.m., Josh Johnson and the Beagle Ranch Ramblers; noon to 1:30 p.m., Pine Leaf Boys; and 2 to 3:30 p.m., Geno Delafose and French Rockin Boogie.
Celebrity judges will choose winners in three categories: amateur, professional and club/organization. Teams also compete for the Best Decorated booth.
Teams competing as of Monday are Acadian Medical Center; Progressive Tractor; LSUE-SG; LSUE PPHMA; Rotary Club; Eunice Mardi Gras Association; Eunice City Marshals; LAS Fire & Safety; Iron Horse Sales; St. Landry Homestead; Eunice Police Officers Association; LakeView Park; Shop’s Grocery; Donnie Francois Electric; Casual Catering; St. Amand Specialty Seasonings; State Rep. Phillip DeVillier; The Mayor & His Council; KVPI; The Eunice News; VFW; Eunice Extended Care Hospital; The Dug Out; Double Action Outdoor Sports; Charlie Rhodes; and Tyler Vidrine & the Pa-Ta-Sa Cooking Krewe.

Parking
There will be designated parking for the staff, judges, vendors and contestants at the cook-off, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The permits will be available from the Eunice Chamber of Commerce.
Public parking will be on road sides and at front of the Winn-Dixie and at the St. Edmund football field parking lots.
Overflow parking is planned at the old Howard’s parking lot.
Shuttle transportation to and from the Winn-Dixie parking lot will be available, he said.
Samuel Drive from Magnolia to Scott Avenue north of the railroad tracks will be converted to one-way on Sunday. Only northbound traffic will be allowed.
Fontenot said police will be on hand to assist with parking, security and traffic direction during the cook-off.
