Acadiana Disaster Response Fund grants $228,000 to organizations

The Acadiana Disaster Response Fund, at Community Foundation of Acadiana, awarded a total of $228,000 to 13 local organizations and churches on Sept. 16 to benefit flood victims.
Grantees include the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette, Catholic Charities; the Disch-Declouet Social Services Center; Vermilion Faith Community of Care, Inc.; FoodNet; Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response, Inc.; Our Savior’s Church; Second Harvest Food Bank; St. Francis of Assisi Church; St. Landry-Evangeline United Way; St. Martin de Tours Church; Southern Mutual Help Association, United Way of Acadiana and United Way of New Iberia.
The Acadiana Disaster Response Fund received contributions from donors and proceeds from various fundraising endeavors to benefit those affected. The grants will support programs for flood victims as well as provide direct assistance to individuals. CFA is not accepting applications for individual assistance, but will instead, rely on the expertise of grantee organizations to qualify and confirm eligibility.
Donations from individuals, corporations and others may be made online at www.cfacadiana.org/flood. Checks may also be made payable and mailed to Community Foundation of Acadiana (Memo: Acadiana Disaster Response Fund), 1035 Camellia Blvd., Suite 100, Lafayette, LA, 70508. Donations are tax-deductible and 100 percent of your contribution, less standard credit card fees, will benefit our neighbors.
