Bishop announces appointments, changes

Bishop Michael Jarrell of the Diocese of Lafayette has released the following appointments and changes, to be effective according to the dates indicated below:
Effective July 1:
The Rev. Monsignor Ron Broussard appointed to the Office of Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Carencro and Sacramental Minister of Saint Martin de Porres Parish in Scott for a term of six years.
The Rev. Gregory Cormier appointed to the Office of Pastor of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish in Abbeville for a term of six years.
The Rev. Mark Miley appointed to the Office of Pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and its mission, Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini, in Kaplan for a term of six years.
The Rev. Aaron Melancon currently serving as administrator of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus and Saint Benedict the Moor parishes in Duson, is appointed to the Office of Pastor for a term of six years.
The Rev. Thomas Hien Vu appointed to the Office of Pastor of Saint Edward Catholic Parish in New Iberia for a term of six years.
The Rev. Matthew Barzare appointed associate pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Ville Platte, its mission of Sacred Heart in Belaire Cover and Saint Joseph Parish in Ville Platte.
The Rev. Brian Harrington appointed associate pastor of Saint Mary Magdalen Parish in Abbeville.
The Rev. Mark Melancon appointed associate pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Church Point and its mission of Saint John in Lewisburg.
The Rev. Neil Pettit appointed associate pastor of the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Lafayette
The Rev. Stephen Ugwu appointed associate pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and its mission of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Kaplan.
The Rev. Mr. Travis Wayne Abadie will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 6 and will be appointed associate pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Eunice and Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Duralde.
The Rev. Mr. Charles William Massie, IV will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 6 and will be appointed associate pastor of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Crowley.

Effective June 30:
The Rev. Richard Broussard will retire from active priestly ministry and will be in residence at Saint John the Baptist in Lyons Point.
The Rev. Dustin P. Dought appointed for further studies in liturgy for a period of two years. His current assignment at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice will conclude on June 30.
The Rev. Siprianus Ola Rotok, SVD, upon the recommendation of his Superior, Very Reverend Paul Kahan, SVD, will be departing the Diocese of Lafayette
Effective July 1:
The Rev. Joseph Hund, OFM, upon the recommendation of his Superior, Very Reverend Jeffrey Scheeler, OFM, has been appointed associated pastor to Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Lafayette, effective July 1 for a period of two years.
The Rev. Gene Tremie will retire from active priestly ministry.
