City Marshal's Office, police cite 15 in underage drinking sweep

Eunice City Marshal deputies and city police issued citations to a number of persons in an underage drinking sweep last Friday night.
The action came after several complaints in the past several months about alleged underage drinking by 15- to 20-year-olds in the areas of South 2nd Street and Walnut.
The alleged offenders cited Friday night range in are from 18 to 20, according to City Marshal Terry Darbonne.
Surveillance teams from the two departments observed several individuals exiting a bar on South Second, going to their vehicles to retrieve alcohol, then going back inside the bar.
Eleven citations were issued for public possession of alcohol by person under 21. Cited were:
William Leblanc, 19; Kramer Rozas, 18; Adam Schatzle, 18; and Kaleb Zaunbrecher, 18, all of Eunice; Mason Walley, 19, Taylorsville, Miss.; Kaleb Pope, 19, Sunset; Theobert Venable, Jr., 18, and Tyler Louviere, 19, both of Opelousas; William Robertson, 19, Iowa; and Darrius Broussard, 19, Lake Charles.
Then, Darbonne said, officers entered The Dug Out and D’s Tavern, both on Second Street, to check for underage drinking, as well as Joyce’s Corner Bar on Maple Ave. and the Daiquiri Shack on East Laurel.
Four people were cited at the Daiquiri Shack. Two -- Mackenzie Granger, 18, and Bianca Royer, 19, both of Eunice, for underage possession of alcohol, and two -- James Desormeaux, 22, Opelousas and Drake Soileau, 21, Eunice, for unlawful purchase of alcoholic beverage by persons on behalf of persons under 21.
