Diversion graduate booked on new charges

Jean Marshall Arabie, 23, of Eunice, who avoided prosecution after his arrest four years ago for simple burglary and theft, again faces felony charges.
Arabie’s bond was set at $3,750 after his Feb. 1 arrest on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of the CDS/Drug-Free Zone law.
He completed the District Attorney Office’s pre-trial diversion program in August.
Charges stemming from his 2010 arrest were dropped when he successfully completed the diversion, a program designed to give first-time non-violent offenders an opportunity to avoid prosecution and keep their record clean.
In entering the program, defendants waive prescription periods on pending charges.
