James Creswell of Eunice teamed with students from Noble and Haughton to place fifth in team livestock judging at the national FFA meeting in Kansas City, Mo.
The Postal Telegraph Cable Co. has commended the four Cottrell brothers of Eunice for their work as telepgraphers. The brothers are John, Bill, Harold and Wesley.
A gigantic civic beautification program will begin with the planting of thousands of trees along Park Avenue and other city streets. Civic League President M.L. Vincent said the work will be supervised by city officials.
N.J. Amy is first president of the newly formed St. Landry Parish Rice Growers Association. It has 75 members.
About 110 men are being put to work constructing farmers roads in the Eunice area, earning a total weekly payroll of $1,800.
Eunice taxpayers will pay 19 mills for general government operations next year, compared with the 23 authorized a few months ago by Mayor J.B. Lewis and the board of alderman earlier in te year.
Commander J.B. Andrews said the American Legion post will build a two-store brick structure at Park and Front streets. The lot at the rear of City Hall will be leased for 99 years.
The first legal sale of liquor since Prohibition ended took place in the city on Dec. 10. The supply quickly disappeared in the face of demand.
The St. Landry School Board decided it had enough cash on hand to pay employees and teachers for the December session before the Christmas holiday began.
