Eunice High grad dies in wreck, driver charged

A Eunice High graduate was killed when the car in which he was a passenger left the highway about 8 p.m. Sunday and overturned on the Roxie Highway.
State Police said Taylor Bellard, 22, was not wearing a seat belt and died at a hospital of injuries received in the accident.
The driver, Emily Marcantel, 22, of Lake Charles was also unbelted but not injured when the Ford Focus left the roadway in a curve, struck a ditch and overturned.
State Police said her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit and she was charged with vehicular homicide, as well as reckless operation and no seat belt.
She was booked into the Acadia Parish jail.
