Iota man injured

A 24-year-old Eunice man, Brock Lebouef, was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on La. 91 north of Fournerat Road in Acadia Parish at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Louisiana State Police news release stated.
LeBouef was driving a 1995 Honda Civic south on La. 91 when, for unknown reasons, he slightly traveled off the right side of the highway, police said. He over-corrected and his vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise, police said.
Lebouef’s car crossed the center line and into the northbound lane when it struck a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, operated by 55-year-old Douglas Short of Iota, police said.
Lebouef and Short were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, police said.
Lebouef suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by an Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office representative.
Short suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
It is unknown if impairment is a contributing factor in the crash, police said. Toxicology samples were obtained from Lebouef and Short and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troop I reports investigating 28 fatal crashes resulting in 29 deaths this year.
