A $7 million addition to the Runnels Gas Products plant at Tepetate will begin next month, according to parent owner Union Oil and Gas.
LSU end Scotty McClain and quarterback Warren Rabb will speak at the St. Edmund’s Athletic Banquet.
Eunice High delegates to Pelican State are Jeanette Pecot, Nevest Bouquet, Pat Hargrove, Olan Miller, Terry Fontenot and Peter Cheveres.
St. Edmund High Pel State delegates will be Pat Fuselier, Lou Thibodeaux, Duro Duplechin and Larry Guillory.
George Clements has sold his Big Star Store to C.H. Williams of DeRidder. Clements will retain ownership of the building, which also houses Western Auto and a barber shop.
Grand opening was held for the Eunice Junior Policemen’s Camp, which is located on School Board property at the spillway levee beyond Port Barre. Dinner was served to 24 members of the junior force.
Tri-Parish Bowling Lanes on Highway 190 East opened to a full house. James Courville is manager and James Wyatt is lanes mechanic. Nine leagues are set for summer play.
Dr. Gene B. Bradley, 33, son of Mrs. George R. Bradley of Eunice, was killed in an explosion at a company in Austin, Texas where he was a chemist. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
The Metropolitan 1500, created and designed by American Motors as a two-person personal car, is available for immediate delivery at Manuel Truck & Equipment, Hwy. 190 West. Gilbert Chevrolet, 100 West Walnut, has the Corvair, named Motor Trend Car of the Year, ready for delivery.
The City Council asked engineer Red Aucoin to develop a plan and cost estimate for providing sewer service in the 30-acre residential development under way north to the canal, south of railroad between North 8th and North 12th streets.
Edsel Deville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Deville, has been elected president of the College of Agriculture at LSU. He is a senior industrial technology major.
The 34c30 hut to be used by Eunice Camp Fire groups is nearing completion at City Park, on ground leased by the Camp Fire Council. Fruge Lumber is the contractor.
Groundbreaking will be May 1 for two new dormitories at Acadia Baptist Academy.
Ellen Loewer is valdictorian and Rodney Reed is salutatorian for the Eunice High Class of 1960.
