Barry Soileau announced he was running for the Democratic Party’s St. Landry Parish Executive Committee.
The Eunice High Bobcats were defeated by W. L. Cohen High School in the basketball state quarterfinal game by a score of 66-55. Junious Semien finished the game with 26 points for the Bobcats.
Thomas and Ozia LeJeune celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 11.
Air Force Senior Airman Michael S. Gardner, of Eunice, has deployed to Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany, as part of NATO’s Peacekeeping Force to support Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Navy Hospitalman Alondra R. Jones, of Eunice, graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill.
Navy Seaman Recruit Benjamin J. Darbonne, of Eunice, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
The St. Landry Parish Police Jury Finance Committee agreed to fund the coroner’s office with $80,000.
Raymond T. Morgan was promoted to staff sergeant in a ceremony at the Eunice National Guard building. Morgan was serving with Bravo Company of the 2nd Battalion, 156th Infantry.
The St. Edmund Bluejays won their seventh game of the season with a win against Kaplan. The Bluejays were 7-1 for the baseball season.
