A story reflected on the contributions of J. Dudley Guillory, who had passed away in March. Guillory had made several land donations to the city including a land for the gas system on West Park Avenue, the Guillory Fire and Training Center on Sittig Road and a site for the Guillory Developmental School.
St. Edmund’s Sarah Zaunbrecher was named to the 5-1A All-District team. She was the only sophomore chosen. Zaunbrecher was a strong offensive force inside the Lady Jays and picked up the slack when fellow player Elizabeth Bowie was injured, The Eunice News reported.
Eunice High tennis coach Pam Joubert’s team dominated a match with Westminister Academy by winning eight of nine matches.
Pam Lanclos was named Capitol Home Health Employee of the Month for December. She worked in the Eunice office as a licensed practical nurse.
The hospital’s Pink Ladies were making Easter baskets for patients. The baskets were being made by Hazel Ledoux, Yvonne Latiolais and Theresa Corbello. President Yvonne Perrodin introduced Joy Fontenot and Ann Schillor.
Jessica Bellard, a 1996 high school graduate who plans to attend LSUE, received a $1,000 Sam Walton Scholarship from the Eunice Walmart store. Presenting the scholarship from the store were Sharon Fontenot, assistant manager, and Pris Nichols, personnel manager.
