JoAnn DeRouen was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the Eunice Lions Club. DeRouen teaches the nursing section at the Eunice Vocational School. She was nominated by Lois Miller.
Lynn LeJeune, executive director of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce, unveiled the 11th annual Crawfish Etouffee Cookoff poster. She was accompanied by “Boo Boo and Too Too Carrier,” who were Dwight Jodon and Pat Dossman playing the role of a Cajun couple.
The First Baptist Church planned a dedication event for a new fellowship hall. Building Committee members were Charles Andrus, chairman; Denise Aguillard; Harold Fontenot; Ed Graul; Pete Leboeuf and Ray Loewer.
Ron Wright, LSUE director of management information systems, was working on a web site for the campus.
Recently installed DAV Auxiliary officers were in a photo in the March 31 edition. The officers were Barbara Ogea, commander; Nola Clavier, junior vice commander; Aileen Hollingsworth, adjutant; Jenny Ardoin, legislative chairman; Ollie Fuselier, membership chairman; Mae Courville, chaplain; and Julia Hutchins, installing officer.
The Bears Cubs, Pack 376, from Basile, toured The Eunice News office. They were Aaron Leger, Nicholas Fontenot, Gary LeBlue, Bron Dubroc, Edward LeBlanc, Jared Smith, Andy Duhon and Derrick Smith.
