The following are from August 1997 files of The Eunice News.
LSUE campus leaders for fall orientation named. They were Jasper St. Andre, Iota; Jesse Guillory, Eunice; Luke LeMaire, Crowley; Shari Dronet, Crowley; Christina Higgins, Eunice; Tremika Simmons, Opelousas; Tonya Herring, LSUE coordinator of student activities; Julie Credeur, Crowley; Christie Pitre, Opelousas; Chrissy Veillon, Chataignier; Nancy Briley, Crowley; and Ron Ryder, LSUE coordinator for academic support; Gilbert Austin, Ricardo Young and Bernadette Mayfield, all of Opelousas; and Ben Alexander, Ville Platte.
Dr. Brian Jobe opened The Family Health Center on Moosa Boulevard. His staff included Denise Prather, LPN, and Penny Mosbroker.
A grand opening was held for KBON on July 31. The Eunice News included a photo of Paul Marx, owner, at the radio controls.
The Eunice Mustang Nationals were the state champions. The team included Wesley Turner, Clay Babineaux, Peter Youngblood, Sy Aguillard, Sam Miller, Seth Joubert, Josh Soileau, Charles Harst, Luke Duplechain, Chris Caswell, Jacob Vige and Nick Darbonne. The team was coached by Danny Soileau, Raymond Harst and Pat Miller.
