The second Experience Louisiana Festival now has a poster created by Eunice resident Hannah Thibodeaux.
But don’t look for Thibodeaux on the signed posters. The artist refers to herself as Hannah Gumbo.
“We are not focusing on one thing necessarily,” she said. “It is the whole thing of experiencing all of Louisiana, not just Eunice, not just St. Landry Parish.”
The poster is an artist’s snapshot of the Experience Louisiana Festival’s multitude of activities from craftsmen to chefs to samples of the best of the state’s music.
“There is a definite narrative going on,” Thibodeaux said. “If you sat there and wrote all of the activities that we are going to offer this year and last year it would be a little hard to take in, but I think when people come to the festival they get it.”
Thibodeaux is in charge of the Artist Village at the festival scheduled Oct. 22 and 23 on the LSUE campus.
Festival presenters, such as artists, chefs and craftsmen, aren’t there just to sell their products, she said. The festival is about people having conversations.
The people involved in the festival “...wanted it to do well just for their city and just for their passion. That is what they are bringing to the table.”
Dwight Jodon, a festival organizer for the sponsoring Eunice Rotary Club, said of the poster, “I think it represents the absolute uniqueness of the whole festival. It has got a little bit of everything. It is very, very cool. It takes a long time to soak it in.”
The poster is to be sold signed as a limited edition, he said. A price has not been set for the poster, Jodon said.
“Last year we we just used the logo. This is adding a dimension that is so creative and unique and one-of-a-kind.”
