The Louisiana State Employment Service has opened an office in City Hall. Desmond Johnson is manager.

Sam Nacol’s apartment house on North First street was damaged by fire. No one was hurt.

Police Chief Allen Hundley is in the midst of keeping undesirable women off the city streets. He said women of ill repute who visit saloons and get drunk and walk the streets will be jailed. Plans are afoot to create a red light district in the city, he said.
A number of Eunice citizens attended the inaugural ball of Gov. Richard W. Leche.

School Reporter Myrza LeDoux reports that Eunice High seniors enjoyed an outing on Calcasieu River, accompanied by Prof. Gordon Dugal, Mildred Crozier and Mrs. Dees Fontenot.

The 15th producer is now flowing in the Continental Oil Co.’s holdings in the Tepetate field 11 miles southwest of the city. Workmen are rushing to complete the company’s gasoline plant.

Mrs. Mordello Vincent, Sr. of Eunice, is being recognized as the only female president of an oil company in the world. She succeeded her late husband as president of Tepetate Oil Co., with an income of about $2,000 a day.

New Sen. Isom J. Guillory of Eunice was named chairman of the Organization Committee. He has moved to the upper chamber from the House, where he was a floor leader.

The Iota FFA team won the parliamentary law contest over 14 other schools. Team members are Zannie Bourgeois, Pership Darphin, Percy Fisher, Hugh McNeil, Warren Servant and J.T. Sepulvado.
