Gov. Edwards announces boards and commissions appointments

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments on May 23 to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Port of South Louisiana

D. Paul Robichaux, of Destrehan, was reappointed to the Port of South Louisiana Commission. Mr. Robichaux is the President of Robichaux Equipment, Inc., and will serve as a representative of St. Charles Parish.

Paul J. “Joey” Murray III, of Destrehan, was reappointed to the Port of South Louisiana Commission. Mr. Murray is the President of Murray Architects and will serve as an at-large representative.

Patrick C. Sellars, of LaPlace, was appointed to the Port of South Louisiana Commission. Mr. Sellars is an owner and managing member of A&M Vacuum Services, LLC, and will serve as a representative of St. John the Baptist Parish.

Robert L. “Poncho” Roussel, of Paulina, was reappointed to the Port of South Louisiana Commission. Mr. Roussel is a retired operations superintendent with Marathon and will serve as a representative of St. James Parish.

Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children

Clay J. Corley, of Florien, was appointed to the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children. Mr. Corley is a high school programs consultant at the Louisiana Department of Education and a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard.

Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission

Robert W. “Bobby” Watts, of Zachary, was reappointed to the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission. Mr. Watts is a real estate agent with Frugé Realty. As required by statute, Mr. Watts was nominated by a legislator representing East Baton Rouge Parish.

Louisiana Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission

Dominique J. Monlezun, of Lake Arthur, was appointed to the Louisiana Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission. Mr. Monlezun is the President of Dominique J. Monlezun Interests, Inc. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Dealers.

Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts

Sharon T. Gahagan, of Natchitoches, was reappointed to the board of commissioners for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Ms. Gahagan is a retired speech pathologist and educator and will continue to serve as Chair of the board.

Ryan M. Jannise, of Great Falls, Virginia, was reappointed to the board of commissioners for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Mr. Jannise is an alumnus of LSMSA and the Vice President of Oracle Corporation in Virginia.

Jimmy D. Long Jr., of Natchitoches, was appointed to the board of commissioners for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Mr. Long is a self-employed attorney. His father, former Representative Jimmy D. Long Sr., was one of the original founders of LSMSA and his daughter, Elizabeth, is currently a student there.

Martha T. Smiley, of Natchitoches, was reappointed to the board of commissioners for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Smiley was the Director of Academic Affairs at LSMSA

St. Tammany Levee, Drainage, and Conservation District

Shelby P. LaSalle Jr., of Mandeville, was reappointed to the St. Tammany Levee, Drainage, and Conservation District. Mr. LaSalle is a self-employed consultant and was nominated by a legislator representing a part of the district, as required by statute.

Henry I. DiFranco Jr., of Mandeville, was reappointed to the St. Tammany Levee, Drainage, and Conservation District. Mr. DiFranco is the President of Principal Engineering, LLC, and was nominated by the Mayor of Mandeville, as required by statute.

Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission

Telley S. Madina Sr., of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Mr. Madina is the Senior Gulf Policy official with Oxfam America.

Governor's Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation

Jeffrey P. Hebert, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Governor's Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation. Mr. Hebert is the Chief Resilience Officer and Executive Director with the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority. He will serve as an at-large member on the commission.

Group Benefits Policy and Planning Board

Agnes S. Andrews, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Group Benefits Policy and Planning Board. Ms. Andrews is an owner and agent with Allstate Insurance.

Valencia A. Tanner, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Group Benefits Policy and Planning Board. Ms. Tanner is a Pharmacist with experience in healthcare and insurance administration.

Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology

William M. Grayson, of Mansura, was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology. Mr. Grayson is a licensed cosmetologist and the owner of Hair By Michael. He will serve as the representative of the 5th Congressional District.

Atchafalaya Basin Levee District

Pamela A. Burleigh, of Opelousas, was appointed to the Atchafalaya Basin Levee District. Ms. Burleigh is an engineer and a real estate agent and will serve as a representative of St. Landry Parish. As required by statute, Ms. Burleigh was nominated by a legislator representing St. Landry Parish.

Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority

Martin Thibodeaux III, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority. Mr. Thibodeaux is a licensed addiction counselor and the director of Thibodeaux-Community Addiction Treatment Services. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers, Inc., and will serve as a member with significant experience or knowledge in the area of opiate replacement therapy.
