Governor’s request granted to include additional parishes in federal declaration
Gov. John Bel Edwards’ request that President Barack Obama expand the existing federal declaration for Louisiana to include additional parishes has been granted, a news release from the governor’s office stated.
The following five parishes have been added: Catahoula, East Carroll, Franklin, Lincoln, and St. Helena.
On March 24, Edwards requested assistance for an additional nine parishes — Catahoula, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, and St. Helena. On March 26, Jackson, Rapides, Red River, and Sabine were added. The five remaining parishes were not included until Monday.
“This additional flood assistance will make such a difference for families who truly need it in these five parishes,” Edwards said. “We continue to do all we can to connect those families with the assistance and resources they need to piece together a normal, day-to-day life after facing such devastating loss.”
Previously approved parishes were Allen, Ascension, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Claiborne, DeSoto, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides, Red River, Richland, Sabine, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Union, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Carroll and Winn
