Home invasion suspect allegedly kept key after moving out

Seraille

When Kaleb Seraille, 18, moved out of a house on Cotton Street he allegedly kept a key, police records indicate, returning later to commit armed robbery.
Seraille is being held pending formal application for a bond hearing after being returned to the Eunice jail from Lafayette, where he was housed after his arrest following the February home invasion here.
Records indicate police believe Seraille recruited Kalon Frank, 17, and three juveniles to take part in the mayhem. All five are from Ville Platte.
Frank and the juveniles were apprehended after the February events. Indications are the juveniles have already been dealt with in the juvenile court system, though those records are closed.
One of the juveniles, a 14-year-old, and Seraille allegedly entered the house near Benoit and Cotton about 5 a.m. and were detected by the residents, a couple in their 40’s and their 24-year-old daughter, who heard scuffling from her parents’ room.
One of the interlopers was armed with a handgun, which he aimed toward the residents when discovered.
He allegedly put the gun in the wife’s face and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire.
Police records indicate that subsequent investigation revealed the ammunition cylinder had been loaded backwards.
The suspects began beating the residents with pipes and slabs of woodand demanded car keys, then fled in the victims’ vehicle.
The victims advised responding officers that the car was equipped with a GPS device. Officers made contact with the individual that sold the car to the victims. He then signed into a computer and tracked the location of the vehicle as they drove away from the Eunice area.
Eunice police then made contact with Lafayette Police Department – who then located the stolen car which was occupied by the five alleged suspects.
Two were taken into custody and three ran but were apprehended by Lafayette officers. The two adults were booked at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
The three juveniles were transported back to Eunice by detectives then released into the custody of their parents.
When Seraille bonded out in Lafayette on the unauthorized use of a moveable charge, he was returned to Eunice custody and charged with home invasion, unauthorized use, two counts of aggravated 2nd degree battery, armed robbery, aggravated battery and illegal carrying of weapons.
