Church bazaar in Duralde
The annual church bazaar at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Duralde is set for Sept. 17 and 18.
Saturday features Bingo games, burger and snacks sales from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Sunday events include barbecue plate lunch sales and barbecue burger sales, a bake sale, country store, beverages, and music. No ice chests please. The live auction starts at 1 p.m.

In Honor and Remembrance ceremony set Sept. 11
The Woodmen Life Chapter 243 in Eunice and in cooperation with the city of Eunice will have In Honor and Remembrance ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Circle Park in Eunice.
"Woodmen Life members and associates nationwide organize In Honor and Remembrance ceremonies each year, " said president of Woodmen Life Chapter 243 Evelyn Stringer. "These ceremonies give members, family, and friends a chance to grieve over the lives lost that tragic day and pay respect to the heroes who responded."
The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a color guard presentation by the Boy Scout Troop #425. Participating in the event will be the mayor of the city, and representatives of Woodmen Life Chapter 243. Hand held flags will be given to all in attendance.
The public is invited to attend.

Jehovah’s Witnesses plan open house
The Eunice Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be holding an open house on Sept. 16. The public is invited to tour the new Kingdom Hall at 240 Moosa Boulevard from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, contact Harry Simon at 337-466-2248.

Bulb & Blossom meeting set Sept. 12
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet on Monday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. at the residence of Joan McManus.

Benefit Trail Ride set for Sept. 17
The third annual Beneift Trail Ride for the Eunice Community Health Center will be Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the ride leaves at 9 a.m.
Admission is $10 and includes lunch. Refreshments will be sold, and an auction held at lunch.
The ride is sponsored by the Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns De Eunice.

LSUE OLLI French Table at Jean Lafitte
The LSUE OLLI French Table will be held at the Jean Lafitte Cultural Center until further notice. The free event is held on Fridays from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Subjects will be:
Sept. 9 - Lets talk about coffee. How is it made, how strong, or what was added to it. Started drinking coffee at what age.
Sept. 16 - Discuss canning vegetables or/and figs/peaches.
Sept. 23 - Discuss bad weather.
Sept. 30 - Talk about when friends/family came to spend the night with your family. Or family gatherings long ago.

Community Garden open hour suspended
The Eunice Community Garden’s open hour on Tuesday has been suspended until milder weather arrives, Patricia Brown, interim garden coordinator, said.

Changes in Farmers Market schedule
The Eunice Farmers’ Market last day for Wednesday afternoons, 1 to 5 p.m., will be Wednesday.
Saturday morning market will continue from 9 a.m. until noon until last Saturday before Thanksgiving, weather permitting.
A variety of home-made items and fresh produce will be available.

ABC to host See You At The Pole Sept. 17
The Acadian Baptist Center near Richard will host its annual ‘See You at the Pole Rally’ on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
The rally will emphasize prayer for our local schools and will also include a meal of hamburgers and hot dogs and recreational activities including swimming, with a program to follow.
A $3 per person charge covers all activities and the meal.

COA Miles-for-Meals fundraiser Sept. 10
The St. Landry Council on Aging will have its 14th annual Miles-for-Meals walk-a-thon fundraiser on Sept. 10 with registration from 9 until 9:30 a.m.
The walk-a-thon will be held at South City Park in Opelousas with opening program from 9:30 until 10 a.m.
Awards will be given at noon. Pledges are being accepted. For those who pledge $20 or more will receive a Free T-shirt. All proceeds will toward Miles-for Meals.

St. Anthony Faith Formation Classes
St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will offer Faith Formation classes (formerly CCD) for elementary, grades kindergarten through sixth graders, for the 2016-2017 year at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Sept. 12 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Junior high, grades 7 and 8, will begin Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. High school, grades 9-12th, will begin with a 6 p.m. Life Teen Mass on Oct. 2, followed by the first Life Night of the semester.

ECCBC begins rehearsals for concert
The Eunice Community Concert Band and Choir will begin rehearsals on Sept. 26 and 27th. The choir members are asked to meet at First Baptist Church on Sept. 26 and the concert band will meet on Sept. 27 at the Liberty.
Concert dates are set for Dec. 8 and Dec. 9 at the Liberty Center.

CDA #208 public Prayer Rally Oct. 15
Court Eunice #208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have an annual Public Prayer Rally for our country.
America needs Fatima prayer service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 in the prayer garden of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 310 W. Vine Street.
This event will be held regardless of weather. The public is invited and asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. the A Rosary will begin at 12 noon, on this day, in every United states time zone, to honor Our Blessed Mother and ask for her protection and intercessory prayers for America.
For those who cannot physically join the event are asked to pray during this time. At noon, A Rosary will be simultaneously prayed at Sweetridge Apartments at 1500 West Maple Avenue in front of their office.

ABC Wild Game
dinner set for Oct. 4
The Aadian Baptist Center will hold its 7th annual Wild Game Dinner Oct. 4 on the ABC campus near Richard.
Booths related to outdoor sports and cooking demonstrations will be available beginning at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. the program will feature Jeff Willis, head coach of the LSUE baseball team.
Music will be provided by Randy Young of Eunice.
Door prizes will be awarded and the grand prize giveaways are a side-by-side ATV and a Browning shotgun.
Tickets are $15 and can be obtained from the ABC office at 1202 Academy Drive, Eunice.

Male Chorus Musical scheduled Oct. 15
The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice will have its 15th year annual Male Chorus Musical on Saturday, Oct. 15 beginning at 6 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 16 during 8:30 a.m. service the church will have annual Men’s Day Service with Pastor Caleb Semien of Word Ministries as a guest speaker.

Saturday program at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.
