St. Landry Chamber plans active shooter preparedness session

The St. Landry Chamber of Commerce will hold an active shooter preparedness seminar on Oct. 27 at Coby’s Classic Cuisine as the second topic in a series of monthly educational luncheons for its members.
Guest speakers include Chief Donald Thompson of the Opelousas Police Department and Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Officials from the St. Landry Office and Homeland and Emergency Preparedness as well as law enforcement representatives throughout the parish have shown their support for the topic as attendees will be able to speak one on one with guest speakers to better understand the best practices during an emergency.
Lisa Vidrine, director of St. Landry Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, said, “St. Landry Parish OHSEP advocates active shooter preparedness and supports the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce in offering this training.”
The St. Landry Chamber of Commerce developed their Lunch and Learn series as a way to hold monthly membership meetings while also providing valuable resources and benefits to those in attendance. This month’s event will take place at Coby’s Classic Cuisine located at 1631 N. Main St in Opelousas.
Businesses who are not Chamber members but are interested in attending the event can call the Chamber office at 337-942-2683.
