Teen drowns at Acadia Baptist Center

A 15-year-old male died in an accidental drowning a the Acadia Baptist Center in Richard, according to a Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible drowning at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Gibson reported in a news release.
The victim was taken an area hospital where he died, he said.
The victim was not identified.
The particulars of the drowning also were not released.
The investigation revealed this to be an accidental drowning.
Agencies assisting were the Richard Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance.
According to the center’s website, there is a youth camp, Fuego, occurring.
James Newsom, center director, was called Wednesday morning, but had not yet returned the call.
