St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission Executive director Celeste Gomez is urging all attendants of the Experience Louisiana Festival to be envoys for the St. Landry Parish area.
“I invite everyone to come out to the festival that weekend,” Gomez said. “We are all ambassadors for our area.”
The Experience Louisiana Festival will be Oct. 17 and 18 on the campus of LSUE.
“The campus is a great venue and a great place to highlight,” Gomez said.
Representatives from the tourist commission will be at the festival as well as tourism representatives from throughout the state, who will be there inform festival attendants about their areas events and attractions.
“We want people to know more about our parish,” Gomez said. “The festival is going to be a great way to highlight Eunice and the entire region.”
“It is in our best interest to support attractions that bring visitors to the area. We are marketing the festival with our publications, and we get our money to promote St. Landry Parish through a hotel and motel occupied tax. These monies are used to market St. Landry Parish.”
In addition to marketing, the parish’s tourist commission also awarded the Experience Louisiana Festival an event and festival grant of $2,000.
“We have experience in hosting these types of festivals,” Gomez said. “People want to know about our food, heritage, culture and music. The Experience Louisiana Festival fits in perfectly with that.”
“It’s such a huge event with so many components like food, film, dancing, music, art and crafts.”
