Two low temp marks broken as winter gives way to spring
Record low temperatures were set here two days this week as winter refused to completely go away in advance of today’s official arrival of spring.
A new record low of 36 was posted Monday, erasing the old mark for March 17 of 39 degrees, established in 1994.
Then on Tuesday, the mercury dipped to 32 at 3:05 a.m., doing away with the old mark of 39 set in 2005.
The high temperatures those two days were 49 and 68 respectively.
Wind gusts on Monday reached 32 mph; the highest recorded Tuesday was 16 mph.
The average high on those dates, according to the National Weather Service, is 73 and the average low is 51.
The average maximum in March is 72.4; the average low is 50.7
The record high of 87 was logged on March 30, 1997.
The record low of 23 was reached on March 4, 2002.
Through Wednesday, Eunice had received 1.70 inches of rain this month.
The average rainfall for March is 4.15 inches.
