Two-vehicle crash leaves a Crowley teenager dead, another in critical condition
A two-vehicle crash on La. 92 at Muskrat Road in Acadia Parish took the life ofa 13-year-old Halle Thompson of Crowley and left a female juvenile driver in critical condition, a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I reported.
The wreck occurred about 4 p.m. Friday.
Police said the crash occurred as a juvenile female driver of Crowley was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry southbound on Muskrat Road. The juvenile stopped for a stop sign on Muskrat Road at its intersection with La. 92, police said. The juvenile proceeded to enter onto La. 92, and was struck on the driver’s side door, by a 2005 Dodge Ram driven by Chad Breaux, 39, of Morse, traveling westbound La. 92, police said.
The juvenile driver was not wearing a seat belt and sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash, police said. The juvenile was transported from the scene to a local hospital.
The passenger of the Camry, Halle Thompson was wearing a seat belt, but died as a result of her injuries, police said.
A representative from the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office arrived on scene and pronounced Thompson dead, police said.
Chad Breaux was wearing a seat belt and only suffered minor injuries, police said.
Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. Breaux voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test and troopers determined he was not impaired, police said.
This crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending, police said.
