Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Wednesday that he signed the following bills into law:

Genealogy 101, a workshop/round table, is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Lafayette Public Library, downtown location, 301 W. Congress St., Lafayette.
Brent Zackery felt that it was God’s plan for him to serve his hometown.
“I am a praying man and feel that I was put here for a reason,” Zackery said. “I can’t fail the town or God. I want to give my all to do everything the right way.”
A lineup of chefs has been scheduled on Saturdays at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center for free foodways cooking demonstrations.
