The St. Landry Parish School Board approved a $144 million budget with a lone dissenting vote from Eunice area board member Albert Hayes.
Hayes objected to school activities, which he said costs families up to $400 and force them to take out high interest loans.
The St. Landry Parish Government’s president should be paid $140,000 a year and current president Bill Fontenot is placing that change for a vote on the council’s October agenda.
The president’s salary of $65,000 established when the parish home rule charter was adopted in 2003.

National Park Service Superintendent Lance Hatten announced Wednesday that the Experience Louisiana Festival has received a $23,000 grant through the service’s Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative.
