Unemployment rates dipped slightly in St. Landry and Evangeline parishes and edged up in Acadia Parish compared to rates a year ago in July.
Louisiana Crane & Construction LLC of Eunice and the U.S. Department of Justice have reached a settlement of a lawsuit on its hiring procedures, a Justice Department news release stated.
With a budget that could reach $2 million, the newly-created Louisiana Lawsuit Fairness Committee may emerge in the coming weeks as one of the biggest players involved in this year’s state House and Senate races.
The St. Landry Parish Council Public Works and Administrative Finance committees are scheduled to meet Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.
The Public Works meeting is at 6 p.m. and is to be followed by the Administrative Finance meeting.
