Carrying a concealed handgun in Louisiana is legal if the person has a permit, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot explained at a recent City Council meeting.
“I get a lot of questions every week,” he said. “People question me about if it is legal for them to carry a handgun.”

About 1,300 St. Landry Parish public school students received sex education last school year through a state-sponsored program, “Choosing the Best,” which stresses abstinence.
The program is delivered through Louisiana Youth for Excellence, administered by the governor’s office.

The Eunice News won 18 awards in the Louisiana Press Association’s Better Newspaper Editorial and Better Newspaper Advertising competitions.
The awards were for work done in 2014.
