Murder charged to Opelousas man who allegedly ran over, then stabbed bicyclist
A St. Landy man has been indicted for second degree murder for allegedly running down a bicyclist with his car, then stabbing him to death.
Gregory D. Joseph, 24, of Opelousas allegedly told the victim, "I told you I was going to get you."
According to witnesses, Tyrone Mitchell was bicycling on Adams when they heard a driver gun a vehicle engine and hit the bike from the rear at a high rate of speed.
After jumping out and telling Mitchell he was making good on his warning, the assailant struck him several times with an object in his hand.
The coroner's report later revealed Mitchell was stabbed four times, once in the heart.
The driver then got back into his car and backed away from the scene.
A 14-year-old girl later subsequently told police she was in the car at the time and Joseph was the driver, according to officials reports.
Joseph told investigators he had accidentally hit Mitchell.
