Motorcylist killed in Rayne collision

Police have not yet released the name of a motorcyclist killed here Sunday evening.
The accident happed at the corner of Chappuis Avenue and West Lessley Street.
Officers received a call at 7:49 p.m. of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle. Responding officers discovered a 2004 Pontiac Vibe was traveling south on Chappuis Avenue when a 1997 Honda motorcycle traveling East on Lessley Street apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and was then struck by the car.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to American Legion Hospital in Crowley where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was also transported to American Legion Hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.
The identity of the victim will not be release until the next of kin are notified. The investigation is continuing at this time. The car driver’s name was not released.
