One gun complaint turns out to be toy, two others unconfirmed

Police worked three complaints involving persons allegedly carrying guns in public. One turned out to be a toy and the other two could not be confirmed.
Shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday, an employee at Days Inn said a woman had just told her she had been sexually assaulted but she did not want the worker to call police.
The worker told police the woman left walking along Laurel, dressed in a tan polo, black, pink and white pajama pants and carrying a .45 caliber handgun.
Police were unable to locate such a person, or confirm the alleged assault.
Twenty-four hours later, about 6 p.m. Sunday a caller said two men were flashing a gun in the 100 block of Harold Street.
Responding officers found nothing immediately to confirm the call, but subsequently located three men under the porch of a house in the 700 block of Harold.
It turned out the gun was an “air soft” toy replica of a firearm. Why the men were brandishing it and why they were under the porch was not part of the report.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Monday a caller said a shot had been fired on Boudreaux Street.
The caller alleged that a man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts was walking from Boudreaux and turned onto Mill when an older model Mercury pulled up and the occupants began talking to the pedestrian.
As the car drive off a couple of minutes later the man walking pulled a gun out and fire one shot at the car. The shot sounded like a small-caliber weapon, the caller said.
Officers could find no evidence of the alleged shooter or the departing automobile.
