Judge moves Common Core suit forward for trial

A trial on the merits of the case is the next step after a state judge on Tuesday lifted the Jindal administration’s suspension of contracts key to the Common Core high-stakes assessments.
District Judge Todd Hernandez ruled time is of the essence in preparin for the 2015 testing and said the matter needs to move forward to trial.
A trial date has not been set.
Kyle Plotkin, the governor’s chief of staff, said the state 1st Circuit Court of Appeal in Baton Rouge will be asked to stay the judge’s ruling and also review and reverse it.
