The crash killed 54-year-old Alan D. Carlyle of Baker.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Carlyle was riding a 2014 Honda XR650L motorcycle southbound on La. Hwy 19.
At the same time, Lacey E. Roberts, 27, of Zachary, was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla northbound on La. Hwy 19.
Roberts attempted to make a left hand turn off of La. Hwy 19 to travel westbound on Port Hudson-Pride Rd. When Roberts turned left, she pulled into the path of the Honda motorcycle ridden by Carlyle. As a result the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Corolla.
Carlyle subsequently died from his injuries.e
Roberts was properly restrained as was a 2-year-old passenger in her rear seat. Both were uninjured.
Driver impairment is not suspected on the part of either driver, and Carlyle wore a safety helmet. This crash remains under investigation, and charges may be pending.
