Car turns in path of motorcycle, Scott biker killed

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA 343 south of LA 98 in Acadia Parish. The crash took the life of a motorcyclist, 54-year-old Emile J. Sonnier of Scott.
Troopers’ investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Sonnier was traveling south on LA 343, operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
A 2002 Mitsubishi Montero, being driven by 57-year-old Theresa A. Guidry of Scott was traveling north on LA 343 and made a left turn in front of Sonnier.
Sonnier struck the rear right side of the Montero, causing the motorcycle to roll onto its left side, travel off the left side of the roadway and enter a ditch, ejecting Sonnier from the motorcycle. Sonnier was transported to a local hospital where he died. Guidry was seat belted and did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Guidry was cited for Improper Turn and released. This case remains under investigation.
