Hunter, mistaken for a deer, shot and killed

No charges are expected in a hunting accident that killed an Alexandria man on Saturday.
According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, John Michael Haynes, 37, was killed by a fellow hunter who mistook him for a deer.
The accident happened on Twin Bridges Road just west of the city about 7 a.m.
Detectives and Crime Scene Unit investigators responded. "From their investigation, it appears that another hunter with Mr. Haynes mistakenly took him for a deer," reads a department release.
No charges have been filed, and the incident has been ruled an accident.
