Lady Cats fall in tourney
PINE PRAIRIE – The Eunice Lady Bobcats battled for a 46-43 lead heading into the final period but Northwest rallied for a 63-54 win in the Pine Prairie tournament.
Hali Jack and Beulah Bradley each scored four points, while Shay Vigers added three more to give the Lady Cats an 11-10 first-quarter advantage.
The Lady Raiders out-scored Eunice 18-15 in the second period to give Northwest a 28-26 lead at intermission.
Jack exploded for 11 points in the quarter, including three treys.
Mia Lejeune and Alexia Jason each added a bucket in the period for the Lady Cats.
Eunice retook the lead with 20-15 battle in the third period, led by Jack’s 11 points including three more treys.
Northwest responded with a 20-8 run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Vigers and Bradley scored three points each and Jack added just two points in the period.
Jack led Eunice with 28 points, while Vigers chipped in eight points.
Bradley finished with seven points and Lejeune contributed six points.
Shamina Frank led Northwest with 16 ppoints, while Sarah Brignac added 15 points.
Kathryn Arvis chipped in 12 points.
Eunice will entertain Port Barre at 6 p.m. on Monday.
The fifth-seed Lady Cats open the St. Landry Parish tournament next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in a rematch against No. 4 Northwest.
North Central is the top seed, followed by Beau Chene, Port Barre, Northwest, Eunice and Opelousas.
The tournament will be held at Beau Chene in Prairie Basse.
On the boys side, Beau Chene is the top seed followed by Opelousas, Port Barre, North Central, Northwest and Eunice.
The Bobcats open the tournament at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Port Barre.
