Blue Jays down Hackberry

The St. Edmund Blue Jays exploded for a 30-10 first half lead and held off Hackberry for a 49-41 win.
It was the second win of the season for Blue Jays (2-7) and first-year head coach Dale Creamer.
St. Edmund opened with an 18-2 run and the Blue Jays increased their lead with a 12-2 second-quarter surge.
Hackberry (1-12) regrouped for a 12-6 run in the third period to close the gap to 36-22.
The Class C Mustangs continued to battle to out-score St. Edmund 19-13 in the final period as Hackberry pulled within eight points of the Blue Jays.
John Guillory led St. Edmund with 23 points, including three treys.
William Chachere added 11 points, while Cullen Brown chipped in seven points.
Drew Brown added four points, while Phillippe Aguillard and Dylan Bieber scored two points each.
In junior varsity action, Hackberry grabbed a 15-12 win over the Blue Jays.
Austin Gradney and Noah Clause scored four points, while Jack Brown and Jacque Richard contributed two points each.
The Blue Jays return to action on Jan. 6 at Gueydan.
