Lady Cats drop two in district
LAKE CHARLES – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats lost to the LaGrange High Lady Gators by a 69-43 margin here Tuesday night in District 4-4A basketball action.
The Lady Gators opened the game with a 17-2 first-quarter advantage and never lost the lead. LaGrange built a 32-10 halftime lead.
The Lady Bobcats made a respectable showing in the second half, being outscored by only a 37-33 margin over the final two quarters, but they couldn’t overcome the poor start.
Hali Jack led the Lady Cats with 20 points, eighteen of those coming off six field goals from beyond the 3-point arc.
Skylar Ardoin added three more 3-point goals as she hit the double-figure mark in scoring with 11 points.
Beulah Bradley and Mia Lejeune added four points apiece and Hannah Jack added two points to complete the scoring.
Eunice played without the services of Dashaya Vigers, who has been dealing with an injury. Four Lady Gators scored in double figures.
In action from last Friday, the Lady Bobcats dropped a 45-34 decision to the Washington-Marion Chargin’ Indians in district action.
The Lady Bobcats jumped to an early 7-4 lead, but the Lady Indians used a 13-10 advantage in the second quarter to tie the game at 17-17 by halftime.
The Lady Indians took a 25-24 lead after three quarters and dominated the action in the fourth quarter by a 20-10 margin to earn the win.
Hali Jack scored 16 points to lead the Eunice High girls. Vigers added nine points, with Bradley and Lejeune adding five and four points, respectively. Viola Walls and Yahaira Reed shared top scoring honors for Washington-Marion with 14 points apiece.
The LHSAA made Beau Chene forfeit their game against the Lady Cats as the Lady Gators allowed an ineligible player to participate.
Eunice High (5-10. 2-3) will host Rayne High (15-6, 4-0) at 6 p.m. in 4-4A play on Friday at the Eunice High gym.
