Apparently impaired man guides his missile over center line, kills Ville Platte woman
A vehicle driven by an apparently impaired Duson man released from jail only a few hours earlier on a DWI charge struck another head-on Friday afternoon killing a Ville Platte woman.
State Police said Arleen Soileau, 52, was not wearing a seatbelt when her vehicle was hit head-on on Chicot Lake Road by the one driven by Michael Fontenot, 47, of Duson. Fontenot, also unrestrained, suffered moderate injuries, police said.
Duson was charged on Thursday afternoon with DWI, careless operating and open container. He bonded out of jail shortly before noon Friday and ran head-on into Soileau about 5 p.m.
When released from an Alexandria hospital, Fontenot will be charged with vehicular homicide, reckless operation, driving left of center, expired driver's license, no insurance, no seat belt and open container.
