The city has increased its claim in a missing funds suit against a former Eunice permit clerk to $13,800.
Mama’s Fried Chicken and Chef Lenny Degeyter won first place recognition at this year’s World Championship Crawfish Etouffee, the 11th annual cook-off.
Quality Manufacturing, which owes the city $24,000 in six months’ back rent, has closed its door. The IRS claims the firm is $1 million behind in taxes and withholding payments.
“Inconsiderate” people playing vehicle boomboxes in the wee hours of the morning are drawing the attention of the police and the City Council.
The City Council has been asked to consider expanding the city limits to take in the proposed LeDoux’s Landing airpark adjacent to the airport and a subdivision envisioned by R.P. Fontenot on the southeast side of town just off Perchville Road.
Interviews began this month with applicants for the LSU Eunice chancellor’s post. Interviewees are Dr. John Couvillion, Dr. Robert Deger, Dr. James Meza, Jr. and Dr. William Nunez, III.
“Mr. Radio”, “King” Karl DeRouen has been inducted in the Louisiana Hall of Fame, which honors men and women in the music and entertainment industry who are originally from Louisiana.
Becky Lee Swint of Eunice was named Miss Louisiana Teen.
Mike Griffith and Ray Higginboth won the annual Eunice Bass Classic at Indian Cree Reservoir. Tony Vidrine caught the big fish, a new classic record 10.29 pounder.
Bubba Frey, who operates Mowata Grocery, has been invited to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate his boudin making skills.
The St. Edmund High 400-meter relay team set a new district record of 1:30:10. Members are Joey Arabie, Andre Feucht, Joshua Bollich and Bradley Fontenot.
Chawana Fontenot was named Secretary of the Year by the Rotary Club. She works at the Michael V. Matt law firm.
